Spendthrift Philanthropy

This is what the holidays should be about -- helping others without intentions of profiting.  Designers, toy manufacturers, and even a coffee chain (thanks, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf!) have donated coveted goods and complimentary services and eats to Project Angel Food's Divine Design.  The bonus is that everything available at this event is selling for at least half price and 100% of the proceeds are being donated to feed victims of AIDS and HIV!  Since 1991, the event has raised over 10 million dollars for the cause.

Guess?, Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, Theory, Hurley, Ralph Lauren, Dior, Thakoon, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Valentino, and Yves Saint Laurent are just a FEW of the wide range donors providing goods that many of us are so eager to own.  Not only are clothing and fashion accessories available, but you'll be able to get the rest of your holiday shopping done.  You'll find clothes for men and kids, toys, and even furniture at 50% to 90% off!

It's a bit of a pity that many require some kind of incentive to make monetary donations, but I suppose urgent causes can't wait for everyone's compassion.  Fortunately, the companies that helped make the event possible showed the generosity that the world needs.  Joe Zee, the creative director of ELLE Magazine, is this year's honorary chair, a position held by numerous famous figures including Kenneth Cole, Donna Karan, Tom Ford, and Herb Ritts.

Thanks, Racked!

The event started on Thursday (sorry!  I just found out about this today!) and goes until Monday, December 7, opened from 11AM to 8PM.  If you go today, you get better pickings, but if you go later, like on Monday, the prices get lower.  Admission is $25, but you can print out this coupon and present it at the door for $10 off the admission price! For once, I advise you to bring a credit/debit card rather than cash because change will not be given!  Of course, it would be nice of you to bring cash and "donate" your change!  Head over to 9900 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills and spend spend spend!
